Re: PDF Fillable form

I have been happily using pdf fillable forms within our office community for a while.  Recently, I recreated my signature and was prompted to add a password.  Now I need to sign a form and cannot remember the password and cannot seem to change or retrieve it so that I can sign the form.  I changed my Adobe Login, but that had no effect.

You can apply a password to the PDF through the PDF Properties. You want to set the 'Permissions" password and then set the allowable printing and other actions. You will prompted to confirm your password and you must save and close the PDF before the protection takes affect.

I would keep a copy of the form without the password since it is hard to break.

The passwords for certificates are very strong and you should have kept a copy of the from without the certificate for such a case. Some suggest keeping a copy of the password in a very secure location or keeping a hint as to what the password is.

I am new in this, by any chance do you have a sample script you can share, or form, or do you know of source that explain this in detail?

PDF shows up blank for users

I run a DJ company and we use a fallible adobe PDF and often our clients open the file and fields are blank.

Frequently the problem is that they are attempting to open the file on their mobil device  and it views fine from a computer.

Are there any work arounds or ways to make it easy for all of our clients to view their contracts from either computer or mobil device.

Are you filling in the form and then sending it to your clients?

Exporting data

Afternoon,

I have a project using form fields for a Daily production timesheet. I want to export the data submitted into a .csv file which is possible thru Merge datafiles into Spreadsheet. I got that far the problem is the data fields are not exporting in the tab order I set in the PDF on export. How can I control this and arrange the data exporting into the spreadsheet. I thought it would follow the tab order but it does not. Can someone assist.

500 Limits on Reader Extended Documents work around

Hi -

I'm about to upload a PDF form for users to send back as filled out PDF files. I realize  there is 500 response limit, but I'm wondering if there is a way around this limit.

I'm don't want to violate EULA, I just want to know if there is another software license or subscription service that I can buy to allow unlimited responses.

Fillable PDF's serve our purpose and I'm not looking for added functionality, but I'm thinking Adobe set this limit to upsell their services.

Will Forms Central allow me to do this function?

Thanks

FormsCentral will allow you submit the form data, not the complete form, to the FormsCentral server. You can download any response as a filled-in PDF and export the response table as a CSV file. It has the advantage of being a lot more reliable than email, it's secure, and reasonably priced. It essentially allows unlimited responses, but you're limited to storing 5000 responses in the table at any one time. There's a 2500 record buffer, so if you accidentally go over 5000, the submissions aren't lost.

When you import a PDF form to FormsCentral and enable it, it applies a subset of the usage rights that Acrobat provides when it Reader-enables a form. But it does allow a full save, and you can still include an email submit button if you want, so retain an email-based workflow if you need to receive the entire PDF, but this usually isn't needed.

The other way is to not Reader-enable the form and somehow convince your users to use Reader 11.

Gilad (and all the rest of you Acrobat JavaScripters) –

Two days ago built a new pdf using the above steps as I had before to flatten the pages but I noticed something that was wrong (and may or may not, have been there back in August with the first batch I did. I need to editable text fields to flatten, but I need any interactive nav elements like buttons that jump to another page, or buttons that launch a website. These are all transparent objects on top of my pdf layout.

So I started messing around with the nNonPrint and got Adobe on the phone who are looking in to it. Here is where I am at on my own:

this.flattenPages({nStart: 0, nEnd: 5, nNonPrint: 1});

This works with flattening the text fields and keeps the nav points as long as the properties > General > Common Properties are changed from “visible” to “visible but doesn’t print”

BUT its not obeying the start and stop functions. Its flattening the entire document.

SO where:

this.flattenPages(0,5);

worked perfectly to flatten just the pages I want it to, is there a way to keep that code and add the nNonPrint in there?

THANKS!

It happens automatically. You don't need any code to trigger it.

Re: How do I make this calculation into script that works in my form?

I think im getting somewhere!  I seem to have much of it working except one thing is acting funny.  The GrandTotal seems to always be one step behind.  So if I put in something that is $100, the subtotals, tax, etc... all calculates properly but the GrandTotal stays at 0.  If I add something else that is $100, then the GrandTotal shows $100.  If I add a third $100 item, total is $200.  If I change an item back to $0, the GrandTotal shows $300.  So whatever prices I enter into my form, the GranTotal calculation always seems to be one step behind in actually calculating it.  Not sure where to look for this one

That's a classic field calculation order error. In Form Edit mode go to Tasks - Other Tasks - Set Field Calculation Order and change the order in which the fields are calculated so that the GrandTotal is last in the list.

*Edited to Add Photos* Fillable PDF on Website Changing

I have created a fillable order form to upload to my website.  I have configured it so that if a cell has no quantity in it, then there is no item total shown.  Once a quantity has been inputted, then a total shows.  This works perfectly on my computer.  I uploaded the form to the website and as soon as I put 1 quantity in, $0's end up in all of the item totals.  Halp!

Edit: Here are two photos to illustrate the issues
