You don't open the PDF in Office... Switch to the Acrobat panel in the ribbon and click on the Mail Merge button. It will instruct you how to proceed.

Many thanks, but when an empty document is opened and I press the button I get the message: "The document you choose for mail merge is not a template for mail merge...." (I translated that from German)

Look in Word's help for information on setting up a document for mail merge. A critical step is setting up mail merge fields in the Word document.

You changed "incremental select" to "autocomplete", so I'm guessing that if the user enters characters on the keyboard, you want just the list items that match to appear. Dropdowns (combo boxes) do not...
